
When to call the doctor if you have a sprained ankle
You should call your healthcare provider if any of the following occurs:
You cannot walk or it is very painful.
Pain does not improve after applying ice, resting, and taking pain relievers.
Your ankle does not feel better after 5 to 7 days.
Keep feeling ankle weak or it flexes easily.
The ankle is becoming increasingly discolored (red or black and blue) or has numbness or tingling.
