How To Stop Itchy Feet

7 Easy Tips

There are many causes of itchiness on the feet. But, when they occur, there are ways to soothe or relieve the itchiness.

The following are tips on how to relieve itchy feet when they occur on the skin of your feet.

1.- Allow your feet to breathe by allowing air to your feet. Sometimes, your daily activities or work makes you put on shoes for several hours everyday. In such cases, put on shoes that at least allow some amount of air to your feet such as shoes made from leather. Your socks also are very important; it should be socks made from materials that allow air to the feet. In this case avoid socks made from synthetic materials; instead go for socks made from wool and cotton because they allow air to the feet and reduce moisture. You can go barefooted when not doing anything or relaxing or when not in public places, to allow air and reduce moisture in the feet. This will help soothe itchy feet.

2.- Don’t put on one pair of socks everyday. Change socks daily, at least twice daily. Another thing is that the socks should be dry. This is because wet socks encourage the growth of fungus and other bacterial in the feet. Doing this will, help to reduce the itching and probably prevent it in the future.

3.- Put on the right foot wares. Wrongly fitting shoes can encourage the growth of fungus to grow between toes especially when they press the toes together. This creates a good environment for the fungus to thrive. This can result in the development of athlete’s foot. Doing this will also help to reduce itchy foot and possibly prevent it in the future.

4.- Wash your feet properly and don’t forget to dry after every wash. Remember the areas between your toes while washing to reduce the growth of fungus just in case the itchiness is caused by athlete’s foot. Also it will also help to prevent athlete’s foot fungus from thriving in those areas.

5.- Apply anti-fungal product on the feet. Some are in creams and some in powders. There are soothing foot creams or soothing foot lotion available to relieve the itch. You can ask your medical doctor if you are unsure of the right product to use. This daily will help to reduce the itchiness on the feet. it is not advisable to stop after you see improvement after using product, continue using for about two weeks. This is to prevent a possible return of the skin condition.

6.- Drink right amount of water daily to hydrate the skin especially when the cause of the itchiness is dry feet.

7.- Apply moisturizing cream on the feet immediately after bathing or washing the feet. Focus on the areas that area where the feet itch and where you think the feet is dry, because that area will certainly itch in the future.
